A Woman Must Choose To Serve The Lord • “Put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the river and in Egypt.” Jos 24:14 • The virtuous wife in Proverbs 31 is pitied by those who have been “enlightened” • “She does him good and not evil all the days of her life” – 31:12 • “She brings her food from afar…” – 31:14,14 • “She watches over the ways of her household…” – 31:27

A Woman Must Choose To Serve The Lord • “Put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the river and in Egypt.” Jos 24:14 • The virtuous wife in Proverbs 31 is pitied by those who have been “enlightened” • Women must choose to serve God; not society’s standards; not themselves.

A Woman Must Choose A Husband That Will Help Her Serve The Lord • There are many qualities she might look for • Looks; ability to provide; treatment of her; treatment of others • Will he help her and her future children serve God? • Blameless; of good behavior; able to teach; not given to wine; not violent; not greedy for money; gentle; not quarrelsome; not covetous

  5. A Woman Must Choose A Husband That Will Help Her Serve The Lord • There are many qualities she might look for • Will he help her and her future children serve God? • Is he someone she will be able to submit to? -1Pet 3:1

A Woman Must Help Her Family To Serve The Lord Together • A woman’s first priority is her family . • “She watches over the ways of her household…”-Prov 31:27,28; 1 Tim 5:14; Tit 2:4-5 • What if she can’t afford to stay home? • Most of the time its the out-go, not the income that’s the problem – 1 Tim 6:6 • Notice the commands concerning younger widows

  7. A Woman Must Help Her Family To Serve The Lord Together • A woman’s first priority is her family . • What if she can’t afford to stay home? • What greater sense of fulfillment can a woman have than knowing she is helping to maintain a family faithfully serving the Lord – Prov 31:31

A Woman Must Love Her Family And Serve The Lord • That the older women are to teach the younger women to love their husbands and children may seem odd to some – Titus 2:4 • Children are demanding by husbands must not be neglected – 1 Cor 7:3-5 • Trials will come but a mother who loves her family will do what’s best for her family no matter how much it hurts.

  9. Conclusion • A mother who seeks the Lord, in every work and service to God and her family, with all her heart, will prosper. – 2 Chronicles 31:21
