  4. A sentence must include • A verb (doing or being). • A subject (someone or something to do the verb).

  5. Is this a sentence? • The cat sat on the mat. • Has it got a verb? Yes - sat • Has it got a subject? Yes - the cat

  6. Verbs change according to when the action takes place • The action can be in the past, the present or the future. • We call this the verb tense.

  7. I am You are He/she is We are You are They are I was You were He/she was We were You were They were Verbs change according to who is doing them

  8. What’s wrong here? • My son and I go to see Aston Villa last Saturday. • My son and I went to see Aston Villa last Saturday.
