  1. Lancashire Outdoor Education Tower Wood

  2. Tower Wood is part of Lancashire Outdoor Education and is situated near the shores of Windermere – the largest lake in England – at the heart of the Lake District.

  3. What to expect from a stay at Tower Wood. • Spacious, accommodation for the children. Single beds or bunk beds in small groups of between 4 and 8. Boys and girls at opposite ends of the accommodation where possible with staff interspersed. . Food is prepared by chefs from Tower Wood. Children will eat together and a rota will be drawn up for clearing away and washing dishes. The quality and quantity of the food is one of the many high points of the experience!

  4. Private lake access • Modern boathouse Tower Wood’s boathouse is modern and well equipped. (Just 50m from the main house). There are changing rooms, hot showers and a refreshments area with balcony and views over the lake.

What to expect when you stay with us. -Safety • Tower Wood is annually inspected by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA). • Tower Wood is approved for sailing, windsurfing and power boating by the Royal Yachting Association. • Tower Wood is about Outdoor Education not just adventure. Tower Wood is inspected and approved by the LEA Schools Standards Service. • Tower Wood’s buildings and procedures are reviewed regularly by LCC’s Health and Safety Team.

Children will be expected to : • Make their own beds • Wash and tidy up after meal times • Make their own packed lunches • Act respectfully at all times • Be responsible for their own belongings • We expect to : • Encourage children to be as responsible as possible • Encourage team building and friendships • Go to bed at a decent time!!!!

Staff will update school each day about how the activities have gone so that photos can be placed on the school website during the week that the children are away at Tower Wood. • In the evenings, children will be given options of activities which will be led by school staff. • We have secured a supplier of hoodies. All children and teachers will have their names on the back with ‘Tower Wood 2017’. Children can wear this hoodie to go to Tower Wood and back. They may also use it as an extra layer for outdoor PE within school.

Dates Monday 2nd October – Friday 6th October 2017 • We will split into 2/3 groups with each group following the same activities at different times of the day or week. • The children will be on (and in!) the water when sailing, canoeing or kayaking. • It is planned that on some occasions the whole group will be together • The timetable will be set during the early summer term • Medical forms etc will be sent out nearer the time; please express your interest now for hoodies! • To secure your child’s place, a deposit is needed by the end of term. Payments can be in instalments. Total payment is £320 (coach inclusive) including 4 nights stay, breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper; all activities and accommodation. Deposit £50 to be made payable by the end of the term please. Instalments can be made through ParentPay.
