  1. Be A Mom! Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother, who has been a mother to me, too. Ro. 16:13

  3. Intro 1 : Disturbing Lies Women Believe Lies Women Believe and The Truth That Sets Them Freeby Leigh DeMoss

  4. And What Are Those Lies? • God doesn’t love me. • I’m not worth anything. • I should not have to live with unfulfilled longings. • I don’t have time to do everything I’m supposed to do. • If I submit to my husband, I’ll be miserable. • Children need to get exposed to the real world so that they can learn to function in it. • If my circumstances were different, I would be different.

  5. Intro 2: Disturbing Trends • FACT: 42% of Mom’s would rather have more money than spend time with their children. • FACT: Only 9 percent of teenagers say that they definitely plan to become parents in their early adult years (i.e., when married and in their 20’s). • FACT: About half of the public says it makes no difference that a growing number of women don't ever plan to have children.

  6. 1. Mothering: The Lost Mission • A. Easy street never ever took us anywhere great. • B. The perfect mom? Perfect according to whom? • Perfectionism. No one can do anything “perfectly”. Perfection is an illusion. Perfect according to whom? According to what? • We have corrupted the word. Synonyms would be mature developed where they ought to be according to their calling, mission and personal development. • C. I have never met a woman who could say at the end of their life: I am so glad I did not help any woman, any man by giving them motherly guidance from God.

  7. 2. Mothering:The Magnificent Mission

  8. What does this involve? 1st Phase: meeting very practical needs food, shelter, clothing, sanitation and most of all, tangible love. (Jochebed, mother of Moses)

  9. 2nd Phase: instruction and training in language, safety practices, holiness, self-management and self-care, and most important unconditional love. (Mary, mother of Jesus)

  10. 3rd Phase: modeling & instruction in values (such as helping and forgiving), appetite management, spiritual disciplines and most important unending love. (Eunice, mother of Timothy)

  11. 4th Phase: model, mentor and Counselor, providing wisdom, Insight, perspective and shared experience.
