  5. OBJECTIVES OF NFOG AS DEFINED IN THE STATUTES • Encourage scientific cooperation in Nordic countries • Encourage clinical cooperation in Nordic countries • Work towards high standard of training at all levels • Improve reproductive health all over the world

The NFOG Clinical Visitor Program • Program started in 2003 • 75.000 DKK allocated per year • 31 specialists have visited another Nordic country through this program. • In 2008, 2 applications were supported: • In 2009, 5 applications were supported: • Positive feedback from all parties. • Reports of the visits have been published in national bulletins and on the website of NFOG.

The NFOG Collaborative Program • Program started in 2008 • To encourage scientific collaboration between at least two Nordic countries. • 75.000 DKK allocated per year • 2008: 4 applications were supported (for 2009) • 2009: 3 applications were supported (for 2010) • NFOG Fund to replace and expand bothVisitor and Collaborative Programs…

Twinning programme • FIGO has organized twinning to 12 developing countries to strengthen their National Societies of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. • Pakistan has been twinned to Sweden. • Nigeria has been twinned with Denmark. • 2 colleagues from Pakistan and 1 from Nigeria were invited to the NFOG Congress 2010.

Scientific Committee • Visitor and collaborative program each year. • Discussion, planning of new NFOG fund • NFOG congress 2010 • Planned the scientific program collaboration with the local organising committee. • Selected abstracts for oral and poster presentations. • Prizes and grants at NFOG 2010: Thesis presentations (5), Young Scientist award (1), Best oral (3) and poster presentations (3) and Lillehammer Scholarships (2):

The Educational Committtee • Established by the NFOG Board in 1990 • Focus on educational matters, mainly for Nordic specialists in Obstetrics & Gynecology. • Hot Topics courses replaced with yearly Specialist courses. • NFOG Specialist Course on vulvar diseases in Copenhagen 2009, with 147 participants. • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Through Life Copenhagen, 17-18th November 2010

  15. NFOG Websitewww.nfog.org • The NFOG website, www.nfog.org was established in 2001. • The number of daily visitors has increased steadily from an average of 20 in 2004 to about 50 in 2010.

  16. In the last two year period the activities on the website consisted of: The publication of minutes of the board meetings and General Assembly. The thesis registry has been updated regularly. The thesis registry lottery was introduced in 2008 in order to attract authors to submit new theses. This has attracted some more theses after a period of declining numbers. Various courses of interest to Nordic colleagues have been made available and frequently updated.

Thesis Registry received this number of theses: • The numbers clearly show a decrease in thesis submission from the year 2007. • As early as in spring 2008 the board became aware of this tendency and thus, the thesis registry lottery was introduced in order to attract more submissions. Nevertheless, the number of submissions has declined further.

  20. NFYOG 2008-2009 • Board consists of 10 members, 2 from each Nordic country. • NFYOG Symposium “Third world challenges in obstetrics and gynecology: issues, facts and personal experiences” in Copenhagen 2009. • NFYOG Pre-congress Symposium: Transplantation of female genital organs

Motivation and stimulation • Best posters: 3 x 10.000 DKK • Best Oral Presentations: 3 x 10.000 DKK • Young Scientist Award: 20.000 DKK • Lillehammer Scholarship: 2 x 20.000 DKK • Acta Prize (most quoted article): 20.000 DKK • Twinning Fellows total sum: 50.000 DKK • NFYOG 100.000 /140.000 DKK per year

  22. Suggestions at GA 2006 1. NFOG should be made more visible:www.nfog.org. News Letters from Chairman and Committees. 2.Twinning Project suggested : Twinning with Nigeria and Pakistan. 3.A plan of how the money of NFOG could be used: Development of Acta . Good ideas needed from members.
