  1. Accessing “Old Patient Chart” from HED This presentation will show you how to access a patient’s HED chart after they have been discharged from the hospital.

  2. From the HED census select File, Old Patient Select.

  3. Click the arrow in the View section and select one of the 3 options from the drop down box according to when the patient was discharged. Select “By Search (Active)” for patients discharged after 47hrs up to 3 months. Select “By Census” for inpatients and patients discharged <47 hrs. Select “By Search (CPI)” for patients discharged > 3 months.

  4. Type in the patient information and click the find icon.

  5. Select your patient by single clicking on their name and click the Encounters icon.

  6. Select the appropriate admission stay you want and click the ok button. There could be multiple admissions here so be sure to select the one you need.

  7. This will load the patient’s old HED chart in the review screen. (Note you can only view information, you cannot enter data).You can navigate through the patient’s chart like you normally would using the review icons or selecting review from the tool bar.
