Step 2:Checking the Facts • Where is Bethlehem? • When did King Herod the Great rule? • What kind of reputation did Herod the Great have? • Where is Nazareth? • When did Caesar Augustus rule? • When was Quirinius governor of Syria? • Is there any record of an empire-wide census taken when Augustus ruled?

  5. So, what really happened? • Create a brochure about the historical birth of Jesus in contrast to the biblical accounts. • Why the difference?

  6. How to create a brochure Open a new document in Word. Go to the tab Page Layout (on top of the tool bar) – Click it. Click the Orientation link and change the layout to Landscape. Click the Margins link and change it to Narrow. Click the Columns Link and choose Two Columns. Now hit enter until you open a second page. Now Save AS with the “Title of Brochure”. Read Carefully: On Page 1: Column1 is the first inside page of the brochure. Column 2 is the second inside page of the brochure. On Page 2: Column 1 is the Back Cover of the brochure. Column 2 is the Front Cover of the brochure. You can type and arrange text any way you want in the columns. If you want to use a picture do the following: Go to Google Images (wherever) and save the picture in SAVE AS. Now return to the brochure. Select the spot where you want the place the picture. Go to the Insert command on the top of the tool bar. Select PICTURE. Find your pick and click the command to move onto your brochure. Once the Picture is on the brochure you can size it to fit and move wherever you want. Ask Dr. Scibilia for help with text and pictures. Always SAVE your work.
