What is certification and why is it important? • Certification shows you are highly accurate at billing and coding procedures • This shows potential employers that you will be a great asset to their team • It will help you improve your coding, billing skills and reinforce the material you learned at Lincoln College of New England

  5. Preparation • Gather information about the certification you want to take. The cost. The date. The application. • Gather material from school classes to help you study. • Budget for money for the test. • Are you far enough in the program to sit for the test? • Take pretest. • Study what you do not know first and then review the information you know once it is closer to the time for taking the test.

  6. CCA Test Prep Class in E-College • First log-in to E-College and find this class. • CCA Test Prep: Next Step to Success

  7. On the left side of the screen, it will give you the class the test will go over. Each of these classes will be on the CCA. • There will be 5 practice test. Take ONE! See how you do. If you do not do well, then study that material. • The Final Prep Test will be like the actual exam. Take it only when you can pass all the other sections. • If you need more tests, let me know and we can reset it for you. Classes and practice test to go over information for each class Final Test! Is timed and will make sure you can pass the CCA. Take this last!

Pretest Information • Have to tell me to enroll you in the class • You need to log into E-College • You will have 5 different tests that go over each section of the test. • On the first test you have 5 minutes per question. • By the time you get to the last and final test you will have 150 questions with 1 minute per question. This is meant to make you extremely prepared for the test. • If you are still having problems or not passing the test, let me know and you can get more practice tests.

  10. Become an AHIMA member • Let’s you network with other students in your area that are preparing to take the test too. • Discounts on testing material. • Does not cost very much! • All of these things can help you get a job!

(Study what you don’t know first and review what you know closer to testing time.) • How do you learn? • Study groups • Different learning styles • What is your ultimate goal? Now what it will take to pass the test. • Accountability and know what you can handle. • Use your resources aka your instructors.
