Young people and science Area 5.2.2.1 Supporting formal and informal science education in schools as well as through science centres and museums and other relevant means. SiS-2010-2.2.1-1 Supporting and coordinating actions on innovative methods in science education: teacher training on inquiry based teaching methods on a large scale in Europe. Requirements: • ≥ 10 partners (10 EU countries) • Duration 3-5 yrs • Funding 2 - 6.75 M€

  5. European network for teaching global change Our present ideas: • Develop and disseminate inquiry-based science teaching on global change • Expand Carboschools to new partners • Establish regional nodes (research institute, teachers, schools, teacher training, NGO, science centre)

European network for teaching global change • Teams of scientists, teachers, science education experts develop inquiry-based teaching activities aimed at generating environmental awareness • Implement and test activities in science classrooms • Document and disseminate activities (conferences, in-service teacher training) • Evaluate the process

European network for teaching global change Interested to participate? • Interested to share your research with teachers and students • Interested to work with teachers and participate in development of student activities? • Able to establish regional cooperation with teacher training institutes, schools, science centres

  8. European network for teaching global change Time frame: • Sep: first plans • Oct: recruit new partners • Nov 2: proposal submissions by partners • Dec 7-11: proposal writing workshop • Jan 21: Deadline for submission
