Prophets Mentioned in Hadeeth • Yousha’ (Joshua): He accompanied Moosaعليه السلامon the sea journey in search of Al-Khidr. • He was made prophet after the death of Moosa and continued his mission. • Under his leadership, the Bani Israel freed Palestine from the aggressors. • Shayth (Seth): One of the sons of Adam عليه السلام • Danyal (Daniel), Shaia(Isaiah) and Armya (Jeremiah)

  3. Personalities Mentioned in Qur’an • The following personalities could have been prophets but it is not known with certainty. • Imran: The father of Maryam whose name is given to a Surah in the Qur’an. • Luqman: The wise man who also has a Surah to his name. • Al-Khidr:The knowledgeable person in the time of prophet Moosaعليه السلام. • ThulQarnayn: One of the kings to have ruled over the entire world. • He built the wall to keep Yajooj & Majooj away from the people.

Prophet Muhammad صلّى الله عليه وسلّم • The earlier Messengers were each given teachings limited to their respective nations or for a certain time. • These nations were isolated from each other. • To make all the people one nation to live in peace and harmony, Allah sent Prophet Muhammad صلّى الله عليه وسلّم. • Allah entrusted him to deliver his teachings to the whole world and for eternity. • This teaching is Islam.

Prophet Muhammad صلّى الله عليه وسلّم • Prophet Muhammad صلّى الله عليه وسلّم confirmed the basic teachings of Islam that other Prophets taught, with additional teachings and guidance for the good of mankind. • Prophet Muhammad is the final Prophet and Messenger . • He brought the final message from Allah, the Qur’an. • مَّا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَا أَحَدٍ مِّن رِّجَالِكُمْ وَلَٰكِن رَّسُولَ اللَّهِ وَخَاتَمَ النَّبِيِّينَ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمًا ﴿٤٠﴾الاحزاب • “Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but He is the Messenger of Allah and the Last of the prophets, and Allah is knowledgeable of all things.”[33:40]

  6. Prophet Muhammad صلّى الله عليه وسلّم • The chapter of Prophethood is sealed. • Any claim of Prophethood or of any divine message after the Qur’an is absolutely false.

  7. Assignment • Are we required to believe only in those messengers which are mentioned in the Qur’an? • How do we know that there are more messengers than are mentioned in the Qur’an? Base your answer on a Qur’anic ayah. • Why did Allah send a common Prophet in the form of Muhammad صلّى الله عليه وسلّم for the entire humanity? • Did Muhammad صلّى الله عليه وسلّم bring with him a new religion? • Mention two prophets who are mentioned only in the Hadeeth. • Mention two people who are mentioned in the Qur’an but their being prophets is not surely known.
