  1. Coral Reefs & Oceans: Problems, Preservation, & Protection By: Skylar Fucile

  2. The Problem Oceans & Coral Reefs are being polluted all around the world Humans are to blame for the state of some Coral Reefs & Oceans

  3. Human’s Affect on the Coral Reefs & Oceans Humans are inducing the problems associated with coral reefs & oceans

  4. Effect On Animals All types of animals are dying & being injured by human’s careless habits Manatees are being hit by boat propellers Some fish species have very low population because of over-fishing One example of a fish species in very low population is the ever-so popular Pacific Ocean Perch~ Humans love to feast on Perch

  5. Overfishing It is estimated that overfishing could kill all of the oceans by 2050~ SCARY! On our planet we have enough fishing boats for 3 planets…We only have ONE!

  6. Danger to Animals Often times, marine animals get those 6-pack rings~ Whenever you have any of those, it is critical to animals that you cut them up

  7. 9 Things You Can Do Learn all you can~ Learn what seafood contamination is and learn why the local governments sometimes shut down beaches Be a smart shopper~ Only buy seafood that has a great population and is safe to eat Conserve water~ Use low-flow showerheads and faucets~ Don’t run water continuously~ Shut the water off while brushing your teeth or while shaving your legs~ Every little bit helps Reduce “household pollution”~ Don’t use herbicides or pesticides~Use lawn clippings, compost, or manure to fertilize your lawn and garden  Reduce runoff~When you wash your car, use soap sparingly~ If you must use chemicals on your lawn, try to use them on a non-windy day Recycle or dispose of all trash properly~ Never flush diapers or feminine products down the toilet Reduce oil pollution~ Fix car leaks!  Recycle used motor oil~ Buy a fuel-efficient car~ Drive less~ Walk, ride a bike, carpool, or take public transportation. Be considerate of ocean wildlife~Never dispose fishing line or netting in the ocean~ Cut open 6-pack rings Get involved~ Take part in a beach clean up~ Urge public officials to support measures that help the ocean

  8. Celebrities Help Out • All of the celebrities that are listed have helped the oceans & coral reefs in some way via organizations or other forms • Ted Danson • Cheryl Cole • Amy Smart • Pearl Jam

  9. Helping Them Will Help You If you do anything to help the oceans or coral reefs, you are actually helping yourself and future generations. Why? How? Because the longer the oceans are healthy, the longer the animals that live in them are healthy, then the longer humans can eat seafood products Healthy Oceans Healthy Ocean/Coral Reef Life Humans Can Enjoy Seafood
