  1. The Difference Between IPL and Laser Hair Removal These two hair removal processes may be confused with one another as they both use light to reduce hair growth on the body. Both use lasers. Laser hair removal, of course, uses lasers, but IPL stands for intense pulsed light which also uses light pulses to heat the hair follicles and stop the regrowth of hair. Although these two methods may sound similar or even the same to the novice, there is a key difference and that lies in the type of light that is used to remove the hair. Laser hair removal treatments will target hair that is in the active growth cycle. The lasers that are used are beams that consist of specifically controlled energy pulses that can be absorbed by the pigment or melanin in the hair itself and in doing so it then reaches the active follicles that are embedded in the skin. So, what is happening is that the laser will be heating the hair itself and it will reach the root right down at the bottom and it will destroy it without causing damage to or harming the skin or tissue that surrounds it. Laser hair removal is very popular across the world and most people will require at least six but sometimes up to eight sessions for the hair to be significantly or even permanently removed. The skin will appear smoother and more even and that is one of the main benefits of laser hair removal therapy.IPL is a little different. As stated, it stands for intense pulsed light technology, and it differs from laser hair removal treatments. It doesn’t use lasers, but rather a very broad light spectrum of several wavelengths. This means that there is more unfocused energy surrounding the actual hair and skin. Whereas laser hair removal will use one single light, the IPL energy will be much weaker as it uses multi-spectrum lights and will therefore be much more scattered. Laser is much more intense, focused, concentrated, and densified than IPL. IPL can very effectively reduce hair growth as it has a 755nm wavelength which is very much attracted to melanin. However, because of its scattered nature, shorter wavelengths such as 532nm are also reached and targeted and that is why IPL is also used to reduce the appearance of thread veins as red cells in the blood have a very high absorption towards this type of light at this type of wavelength. Therefore, you can significantly reduce the appearance of any broken capillaries at a superficial level. This also means that you can target pigmented areas or rosacea. That is why IPL is so popular because it has such varied applications. However, if we’re talking about hair removal, IPL is also very successful but will also require six to eight sessions for a person to see a noticeable difference, the same as with laser hair removal. The question of which is better when it comes to hair removal when considering the options of laser or IPL comes down to personal preference. However, IPL machines are sold across the world and that means that you can perform your own IPL sessions in the comfort of your own home whereas you will need to visit a salon in person for laser hair removal treatments.

  2. This means that IPL is generally the more affordable and more convenient option for most people and with so many top-quality devices available at competitive prices, it is no wonder that so many people are turning to this method of hair removal. After all, in today’s times, it is better to remain home when one can and to perform the beauty treatments that you can perform in the safety and comfort of your own home by yourself instead of unnecessarily visiting a beauty salon.
