  7. Inspired by 2009 program for Michigan Writing Project teachers at Michigan State University: we’ll have a six-day residential seminar hosted first in Kalamazoo at Western Michigan University in Summer, 2011. Our Model

  8. 2 TC’s from each of Michigan’s eleven writing projects; • 22 members each summer in our seminar; • Each NWPM site will select participants from its local pool of TC’s; • Members become part of state-wide Holocaust Educators of Michigan Network; • These 2-person teams will begin to build local, site-based leadership; • This idea/model was proposed to leaders from all 11 NWPM sites in November! Participants

Common Reading (The World Must Know) • Holocaust Survivor Testimony; • Guest Lectures/Experts on Holocaust, Judaism, Social Justice; • Visit to Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills; • Writing, Reflection, & Synthesis Opportunities; • Cultural Immersion Opportunities: Shabbat, Muslim Center, etc. • Partnership Building (Museum, etc.) • Networking Building Key Experiences for Seminar

  10. Build Local Capacity at all Eleven NWMP Sites; • Create Network of Teachers in Michigan doing this work; • Identify and Provide Resources for Teachers in Michigan; • Foster Relationships with Michigan Partners Seminar Goals

  11. Feedback while we’re here about our design for this seminar; • 10: 30 SESSION TOMORROW • Ideas about Resources from your WP service area; • Names of People from your site who might be willing to serve as “advisor” for project; So Here’s What We Need
