New militancy was based partly

on protest tactics used in the

anti-war and civil rights movements.

with treatment of gays in

the military = Discharge

San Francisco also grew

as a center.

with churches more so than any

other industrialized nation.

Mainline Protestant churches struggled after 1970.

called “The Moral Majority” (p.816 inset)

Culture Wars

the battleground for

many of these issues.

    • Draw inferences about

    • the United States during

    • the 1980s-90s.

    • Create branching diagrams

    • to organize information.

What trends and conclusions can we infer about the 1980s 90s from the data sets

What trends and conclusions can we inferabout the 1980s-90s from the data sets?

  • The number of married women with children in white-collar

jobs increased, however, they still lagged behind with regard

    to wages.

  • Poverty levels steadily decreased throughout the 1960s,

however, began increasing in the late 1970s

  • Family income steadily increased until 1970 and then began

decreasing in the 1980s as unemployment starts to rise.

  • The number of women in workforce increases until 1990,

when it begins to decrease which may be explained by the

reemergence of more conservative social ideas/values.
