  3. First stop for questions. We strongly recommend that you refer to your supervisor as your first-stop for assistance • Local knowledge of your school, local area and the whereabouts of hospitals, immigration offices, supermarkets and other important institutions • A link between you and your schools Your Supervisor(if your official supervisor is far away, your supervising JTE)

  4. 2nd year + JETs, 2 per region, volunteers • Support for local JETs • Help you to help yourself • Knowledge of the local area • Link between the PAs and JETs • Report on regions to PAs • Help plan and run conferences • Available during work hours unless emergency RPAs

Have experience living in Japan and will help you help yourself • Organize and run conferences • Counseling and support, work and non-work life. • PAs are not professional counselors, but receive training and can help refer to specialists if necessary • Just like RPAs, are available during work hours, unless an emergency • PAs tend to have the most detailed knowledge of visas, taxes etc. PAs: The Basics

All counseling must be kept in the strictest confidence • RPA/PAs will ask your permission before discussing an issue with anyone else • Exceptions to confidentiality: • Illegal activities • If PA/RPA feels that a JET may be in danger, or may be capable of endangering another person they must break confidentiality • If the JET is engaging in activities that may harm the reputation of the JET programme. PA/RPA Confidentiality
