  2. Primary Purposes To create a database application containing common information for all MSP’s across NC To provide data collected to MSPs for annual reporting to US Dept. of Ed. (other than evaluation data) To provide data collected to MSPs for interim reporting to NC DPI To provide project data status/queries to project administrators and evaluators for on-going planning and decision-making To provide Participant data available for districts and schools To provide data to support NC DPI sponsored research

RFP Project Requirement Research Participation: Teacher data and student achievement data collected by the project will become a part of the data collected across North Carolina regarding MSP projects. Projects funded in this round of the NC MSP program will be expected to fully cooperate with DPI sponsored researchers conducting research for DPI regarding the results of the MSP projects.

  4. Possible Secondary Purposes • Library of Project Evaluations and Research Findings • Library of Content Courses Developed with NC MSP Funding • Downloadable Forms and Resources

  5. Why Participate? • Funded by DPI to provide assistance to funded MSPs • Participation is not “something else on the plate” • Service to MSPs • Designed so data submitted can be easily queried and reported

  6. Data Collection Process • The Annual Reporting Process to US Dept. of Ed. (web-based) was used to develop both paper and web data forms • A database application was developed and includes: • Website • Data collection segment • Reporting segment

Collection / Reporting Status Collect Process Report • Projects submit baseline data forms • Complete data entry for all forms • Collect USER info from projects • Design and develop reporting modules • Assign USER ids and passwords • Projects submit participant forms • Test and publish queries and reports • Notify USERS with access instructions • Projects submit activity forms Bold items indicate on-going process

Reports • Change Request Form • Option to submit will be available on-line • Submit by email, fax, or snail mail for now • Participant List Report • First report to be made available • Allow project staff to submit a query to show / print participants • Within Project; Within District; or Within School • Will ease completion of Activity Forms (participant section)

Reports (2) • For Accountability: a reference for completing Annual and Interim Reports • Project/partner data forms as .pdf files • Queries on Participants and Activities • Participants by grade level, by subject area • Number of students taught by participants • Activities by focus and # of sessions • Participant contact hours (by project, by district, by school, by activity)

Reports (3) • For Planning: a tool for Management Teams, Project Directors and Evaluators • Queries on Activities and Participants • Activity Data • By location, by activity type, by primary focus, by emphasis, by P.D. provider, by participants. • Teacher Data • by district, by school, by individual, by grade level, by subject area, by activity.
