  4. Aesthetic Impact • How does the artist use COMPOSITION, COLOR (especially CONTRAST OF COLOR) to ARRANGE his story/subject matter?

  5. ALLUSION Manet certainly alluded to other very famous paintings when he made this painting. Look at these two famous paintings and answer the following question. The Ingres and Titian are “classical” studies of beautiful women. How is “Olympia” different or the same?

  8. Manet was very influenced by Japanese art, to which the West had increased access. What influence can you imagine by looking at this woodblock?
