  9. Catherine’s Applications • BatChmod - This utility has several functions, but it is especially useful for changing the user permissions on a file that won't allow you to modify or move it. http://scoopnet.ca/macchampion/batchmod13.hqx • Xoptimize - Xoptimize pre-binds applications so that they load faster. What that means is that it helps applications to find where their associated files are so that they can load them more quickly. http://softrak.stepwise.com/Apps/WebObjects/Softrak.woa/wa/displayPackage?package=1887&os=20 • EmptyTrashX - Have files in your trashcan that won't trash? This utility will quickly get rid of them whether they want to go or not. http://homepage.mac.com/kfkel/.Public/EmptyTrashX.hqx • ProcessWizard - ProcessWizard creates a nifty little menu that allows you to trash any active process. Useful when you get that odd system message that something can't be quit. It also allows you to change the UNIX "nice" value for an application. So, if you have an application that runs too slowly, like VirtualPC, you can reset its "nice" value for better performance. http://www.theinteractivething.com/index/lng/en/menu/products/p/processWizard/part/features/ • LAUNCH BAR - App Switcher and QuicKeys smashed together and put on steroids. This is to X what 'Finder Pop' is to Classic. • CaptainFTP 1.3 - Here is a cute little ftp program that is free for personal use. http://captainftp.xdsnet.de/ftp/description.php • http://www.stimpsoft.com - the apps are just hysterical! It looks like the guy will not continue development but it looks like many will take them over and still work on them!
