Conversations about mental health change lives.  At the moment, too many people with mental health problems are made to feel isolated, ashamed and worthless by other people’s reactions. But talking about mental health doesn’t need to be difficult. It can be as simple as making time to have a cup of tea or go for a walk, and listening to someone talk about how they feel. OUR CONTEXT 2 in 3 adults are either overweight or obese 1 in 6 workers is dealing with a mental health problem Physically active workers take 27% fewer sick days than their non-physically active counterparts - NICE, 2012 Money is lost due to sickness absence. An average London firm of 250 employees loses around £250,000 a year due to ill health calculated by sickness absence.   12. WHAT LOCAL SUPPORT IS AVAILABLE? 1. 2. Mental health & wellbeing training for line managers – heavily subsidised rate of £15pp for half day course Employee health check packages (for up to 40 employees) – free, charges only apply if appointments are missed We’re here to help: guidance & signposting from our healthy workplace business advisor – free of charge 3.   14. 1:1 SUPPORT IS AVAILABLE FREE OF CHARGE • Our support is tailored to individual businesses/organisations' needs but includes: • guidance as you review and develop all that you do to create a healthy workplace • signposting to relevant guidance and no- and low-cost ways to encourage your staff to look after their health • advice and feedback as you complete your accreditation application • There is no obligation to join the scheme after an initial discussion exploring how the healthy workplace service could best support you. www.lbhf.gov.uk/healthyworkplace
