  1. STAR Report  Time Meeting March 18, 2014 Olga Evdokimov

  2. Start of the 200GeV Run • Begun trigger setup work on Friday, the 14th • Set up three essential triggers for data taking and HFT commissioning • Over the weekend – overall good beam • conditions, tuned the base-line trigger set • Additional (physics-based) triggers are • being set: , , e, HT • Monday, the 17th - start elevating triggers • to physics IDs

  3. HFT Commissioning • The HFT is commissioning the three system PXL, IST and SSD • Many pedestal runs collected for calibration by all subsystems. • All three detectors are included in multiple tests runs in the past few days. • STAR priorities for the 200 GeV run: beam stability first, lumi second.

  4. Beam Event 3/18 @9:25 • A few beam loss events prior to March 18th went without notable impact on STAR • We hoped that was a good indication of the protection bump success. • Pre-fire abort & quench today tripped (almost) all STAR systems • A major concern for STAR

  5. Beam Event 3/18 @9:25 HFT Before After • No obvious critical damage for most of the HFT • One of the inner layer sensors lost half of the read out – under investigation.

  6. Plan for Wed. Access • STAR would like to request restricted access • Work plan: • MTD (4 people) • replace TDIG board • damage assessment from pre-fire abort • Gas system (4 people) • ED visitors inspecting the gas system • PXL (2 people) • temperature interlock installation • IST(1 person) • fiber swap for an RDO • BTOW (2 people)
