What the project is about: • There are four seasons that occur every year and each season has different weather patterns • The four seasons are: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter • By the end of the lesson, students will know which months fall under certain seasons and be able to identify which type of storms occur during each season

  3. Essential Question: Can the weather stay the same and never change throughout the entire year?

  4. Unit Questions: • Do you wear the same type of clothes in the summer as you do in the winter? • Why does the weatherman have a job? • Can you build a snowman in July?

  5. What part of TEKS is fulfilled? • TEKS-2nd Grade (Section 113.4, Social Studies: 7A) • 2.7 The student knows that many types of change occur • 2.7b Identify, predict, and test uses of heat to cause change, Including melting and evaporation • 2.7d Observe, measure, and record changes in weather, the night sky, and seasons.

  6. Activities • 1) Children will create a safety plan for their home to use in case of emergencies. • 2) Children will get into groups and discuss if they were ever in any hazardous weather conditions with their families, what happened, and how that made them feel • 3) Children will draw and color a picture of their favorite season, including the activity they enjoy doing the most during that season
