  1. Choice • The idea for the subject came to me when I saw a carnival in Rolling Meadows. Many posters in the shopping center gave me the information and ideas for the project.

  2. Develop • I later returned to the shopping center and took many pictures of the carnival in progress as well as their poster. These pictures gave me what I needed for the project.

  3. Pictures • I took many pictures

  4. Pictures • More Pictures

  5. More Pictures • Many More Pictures

  6. I used Verdana fonts in the body of the poster and the Shadow Depth Design Technique that I found in the April/May 2005 edition of Photoshop User magazine as a basis for the design.

  7. More development • I titled the top of the poster “Carnival Time” using the warp text feature. To bring out the text I drop shadowed it with vibrant red color.

  8. First Attempt • I addedthe darker blue boxes to give the dates a three-dimensional look. I reduced the larger background opacity to emphasize the smaller boxes.

  9. Final • I used drop shadow throughout the poster to especially make the pictures stand out. I used outer glow used on the title of the poster.

  10. Comments • After much agonizing about the placement of the text, I decided that the poster was complete with 15 layers after 7 major revisions. Placement of the text was the most difficult of the project.
