  1. UPDATE FOR HOLY CROSS PARISH, MIRAMAR In March 2014, we asked for your support and prayers in expanding our mission fully to Miramar community. Thanks to Holy Cross Parish for warm welcome and advice. Expanding our Conference activity and membership to the Miramar community. Holy Cross members recruited and learning about their role – • Visiting sick, lonely and house-bound • Transporting elderly to Mass and services • Giving emergency food and clothing • Collecting for street day and Foodbank appeals Giving support to most needy students at Holy Cross and St. Anthony’s Schools.

  2. Our Members and Resources • Holy Cross Parish: Alaister Straka, Clare Maddock. Margaret Guidera Mary Bussell. Also, six Active members from St Anthony’s Parish. • Associate Members assist occasionally for ‘one-offs’ when they can, such as transport, street collections, prayers. • Organised so that one local Conference covers the two parish communities – all this east side of the airport. • We assist and visit people in Miramar, Strathmore,Seatoun, some also in Kilbirnie, Lyall Bay, Newtown, Island Bay, and further afield. • We funded our local activities through kind donations, local donors, and member collections of about $4,500 last year. • Parishioners, our Schools and supporters also donated about $4000 in food, goods and furniture distributed to needy people last year.

  3. What we are Planning Ahead and will be grateful for your support – • Understanding our role in the Holy Cross Miramar community. • Cooperating with priests, parish helpers, parishioners, community. • Resuming Poor Box in the foyer of the Holy Cross Church. • Annual Special Collection at St. Anthony’s Masses in September. • Annual Feast Day Mass at St Anthony’s, 7pm, Thurs 25 September. • Continue to support most needy students at Holy Cross and St Anthony’s schools. Would you sponsor some of a child’s needs or donate anonymously through SVDP as some parishioners are doing? • Appeals for ‘one-off’ help such as for street appeals, clothing, goods, food, transport, and donations. YOUR PRAYERS HELP A LOT TOO

  4. We welcome NEW MEMBERS There’s more to do in the area. If you have love and compassion for others, and have been thinking of this, please chat to any of us. In closing, please all join in this prayer for those in need, for all helpers and supporters, and for your local Vincentians – “As we go on our way, may God go with us, may he go before us to show the way, behind us to encourage, beside us to befriend, above to watch over us, and within to give us his peace. Amen”.
