  4. Here’s what’s happening at VBS Roar! At Roar, the daily Bible Point is carefully integrated into each station’s activities to reinforce Bible learning. Each activity is an important part of kids’ overall learning experience MONDAY Bible Point: When life is unfair…God is good! Bible Story: The Israelites were mistreated by the Egyptians. (Exodus 1; 5; 6) Key Verse: “The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes.” (Nahum 1:7) Color of the day: Blue Bible Buddy: Mack

  5. TUESDAY Bible Point: When life is scary… God is good! Bible Story: God sends plagues on Egypt. (Exodus 7:14-12:32) Key Verse: “Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.” (Psalm 106:1) Color of the day: Purple Bible Buddy: Hooper

  6. WEDNESDAY Bible Point: When life changes…God is good! Bible Story: The Israelites enter the wilderness. (Exodus 14-17) Key Verse: “Give thanks to the Lord, for his is good! His faithful love endures forever.” (Psalm 106:1) Color of the day: Green Bible Buddy: Marge

  7. THURSDAY Bible Point: When life is sad…God is good! Bible Story: Jesus dies and comes back to life. (John 16-21) Key Verse: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.” (Psalm 34:18 Color of the day: Red Bible Buddy: Zion

  8. FRIDAY Bible Point: When life is good…God is good! Bible Story: The Israelites build a memorial to remember God’s goodness. (Joshua 3-4) Key Verse: “Remember the Lord, who is great and glorious” (Nehemiah 4:14) Color of the day: Orange Bible Buddy: Savanna

  11. Our Mission: ZOETrooper Treats mission moments At the Mane Munchies Station, your Troops will be served tasty treats. As you’re eating your snack (1st – 6th graders), our ZOE mission’s Team will help explain the mission project and share stories. Our goal is to raise $3,000 this year at VBS!! Please make note of your kids with allergies and use caution accordingly! • Trackers will stay and sit with their Troops to keep them focused on the presentation. You will not have snack during this time. • Red Cup/ Green Cup will be used to let children know when to be quiet and when they can socialize

  12. Servant Snack at the Wild Watering Hole • You will be attending snack during your Congo Craft and will need to split the time with your adult leader and your youth leader. At least one person must stay in craft with your Troop. You have a total of 20 minutes for snack- 10 minutes for youth and 10 minutes for adults. • When you have a snack at the Wild Watering Hole, you MUST finish it & wash your hands before re-joining your Troop! The treats in your breakroom are not all nut free!!!

  15. Group Trackers • Thank you! You have one of the most important jobs at VBS! • If you need anything, call Christie: 919-609-2391 or Alicia: 336-686-7630 (these numbers are in your back pack, too)

Walk Troops to potty, but wait outside – do this BETWEEN rotations, not during if at all possible. • Emergency: after notification by staff member, go to Lower parking lot, take attendance, wait until all clear • Make note of allergies and special needs on your roster, be aware! • Roaring Rec member will stop traffic on the way to & from • Rec. Trackers bookend your group while crossing. • Trackers - TAKE TROOP LANYARDS OFF DURING REC!!! • Stay with your group, help the rotation Leaders as • needed, help your Troops as needed in those rotations. • Take turns going to snack during craft –you have 20 min, so 10 min for 1/2 the Trackers and 10 for the other 1/2. • Phones should be on vibrate or silent – please stay in the moment, try not to text while you are with the children. • If anyone gets sick, notify Christie or Alicia and take them to the front office. Admin

  17. Don’t Fall Prey! • Remember, relationships first. The purpose of Roar is to help kids grow in their faith and to encourage healthy relationships. • Don’t allow put-downs. Set this as a clear expectation, and enforce it. Your kids will grow in their faith as they see that cooperation, assuming the best and lifting each other up creates a servant’s heart and feeling of belonging. • Applaud effort. Encourage constantly. Be lavish with applause. Make it fun for kids to try new things, even if they fail. Build kids up! • Pray, pray, pray. Pray that God will use your VBS to draw kids and their Trackers closer to him and to one another. • Cheer! Feel free to start thinking of ideas for your group cheer. You know the name of your group now, so get creative, that’s a good way to bring your group together as a team.

Check in • Troop Check-In starts at 9:00 daily. • Trackers be here at 8:45a. • Stop by the servant check in table for your nametag between 8:30a-8:45a. • When you check in, be sure to get your daily raffle ticket!! • Rec Youth will bring kids to Troops in Community Room • Use roster in blue folder to check off attendance, also note allergies • Hand out nametags as they arrive • Extra coloring sheets for late arrivers, or bored hands.

  19. Check out • Troop pick up is at 12:30p daily. • Use roster in blue folder to have parents sign off when they pick up their child. • Be sure to check CSN when each child is picked up. • Collect nametags & key hooks (will receive in the Herd Hangout on Day One) as they are picked up, keep in the orange bag. • Extra coloring sheets for late arrivers, or bored hands.

  20. Herd Hangout • Each group has 2-3 Trackers, an adult and 1-2 youth. The Youth is the leader and opens Herd Hangout and directs discussions, the Adult is the Assistant who helps guide the conversations and helps their Youth Facilitate and keep focus. • Preschoolers have their Herd Hangout time in the same room as, and directly following, snack. These are the preschool rooms, so if you have extra time and the kids want to play, that is totally fine – just remember to leave the • room in the condition you found it or better!

Herd Hangout 411 • Day 1 Give each kid a key hook with the Bible Buddies-write their name on the blank tag, tell them to wear them every day on their lanyards so you can talk about the bible buddy for each day. Leaders should take these up daily and keep for the next morning. • Pre-School groups : • Play (with toys in room), have snack and talk about the Bible verse of the day, color of the day – talk about the Bible buddy of the day – Write your God Sightings on the Tyvek bands. Loop them together to make a chain and bring to Savanna Sunset (closing) each day! - You can try questions provided too. • Elementary School groups: • Use the Wildlife Laughs sheets – talk in your small group about the Bible verse, Bible point, Bible buddy, and the color of the day. We’re going to make a big chain to go around the Savanna to represent God’s wrapping His love around us. • For fun: Think of a Troop cheer for your group - Practice it too! Lizzy Lemeur will ask you for them during the week.

  22. The Orange String Bag • Your Troop orange backpack contains: • Daily Leader manuals • Roster • Schedule • Survival Kit (see contents below) • Coloring sheets • Markers • Leader’s Survival kit contents: (all in gallon Ziploc bag) • Travel Sized tissue pack • A few bandaids • 2 ink pens • Wet Wipes • Note cards or post its (something small to jot notes on) • Small bottle of hand sanitizer • Extra labels (in case someone loses a nametag)
