  4. Mechanical Energy • This is energy due to an objects motion and position. • Mechanical energy includes kinetic and potential energy. • An object has mechanical energy under two conditions- 1. it is in motion 2. If it is relative to a zero potential energy position CONTINUE

  7. Electrical Energy • Electrical energy comes from any energy put out by electricity. • This is most common and most useful type of energy. If a device has a power cord or batteries it produces electrical energy. • The energy itself is not visible, but the device is visible. • Examples of electrical energy are- Light bulb power cord Batteries in a flashlight hair dryer Toaster microwave CONTINUE

Thermal Energy • Thermal energy relies on the temperature of an object; the energy produced by heat. • It is not the most useful form of energy because objects do not easily remain heated. • It differs from radiation, because radiation is energy being reflected or absorbed due to heat.   12. Sound Energy • Sound energy is the energy produced from the vibrations of a disturbance of matter. • Sound actually travels by waves. Sound must travel through a medium; solid, liquid, or gas. • Sound produces the least amount of energy. The waves are not strong enough to carry very much energy. CONTINUE

Sound Energy Examples Some common examples of sound energy are- • Sound produced by a guitar string • The sound from drums being hit • A dog barking • Your stereo blasting • Aircraft • A sports car roaring down the street All of these cause vibrations and transfer energy that you can hear.   15. Radiant Energy • Radiant energy is the energy from electromagnetic waves. • It is emitted or absorbed by a source/object into the environment. There are a large number of examples or sources of radiant energy, the main thing is heat emitted or absorbed by an object. It is one of the most common forms of energy. • Radiation is the only form of energy that travels purely through space. • It can be visible or invisible. CONTINUE
