The Office of University Relationscommunicates:

The office promotes information about faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends, research, scholarship, activities and community outreach.

Beginning with a broad communications plan is your most effective way to communicate your message. University Relations can help you develop your communication goals, create the message, conduct research, develop a timeline and determine the right communications tools—print, Web, traditional media, social media, video, multimedia and more.

Basic Necessities for a Speech

Length of speaking time (such as 1-2 minutes, 3-5 minutes, 5 or more minutes)

Which key messages do you think the speech should convey? UNCW’s key messages include:

Emphasis on the journey of learning for students and the connections that students form with faculty and staff

Emphasis on a “sense of place” and the university’s commitment to Southeastern North Carolina

Community partnerships of many types and their value to both the university and the community

Innovation and entrepreneurship and how efforts under these two umbrellas benefit the university and the community

About deadlines

The Chancellor prefers to receive speeches and bullet points 5-7 days before events. Please submit speech requests as soon as possible to expedite preparation of remarks.
