  2. Objectives Educate interns, residents and fellows about ORAC and its relation to the CORE. Promoteinterns, residents, and fellows interest and participation in ORAC and the CORE. Provideavenues for interns, residents and fellows to become active in their own OGME.

  3. Ohio CORE What is the CORE? An osteopathic consortium of hospitals and colleges of osteopathic medicine Composed of several committees What is the CASC? CORE Academic Steering Committee How does ORAC fit within the CORE? ORAC is a subcommittee of the CASC Designed to represent and address intern, resident, and fellow concerns

The Story of ORAC Need existed to represent interns, residents, and fellows at osteopathic GME programs in the CORE CASC in collaboration with trainees in GME programs founded ORAC in 2004 Composed of representatives from each CORE hospital with several elected to serve on an executive committee

  5. ORAC Mission To improve the quality of Osteopathic Graduate Medical Education, service, research, and professional identity at the local, state, and national level. However this is now being revised to be more specific on our mission.

  6. ORAC Organization Two representatives from each CORE hospital Executive Committee Chair Vice Chair Secretary CASC/CORE Board Representative Ohio Osteopathic Association Representative

ORAC Involvement CORE Academic Steering Committee (CASC) Ohio Osteopathic Association (OOA) Ohio Osteopathic Symposium (OOS) AOA Council of Interns, Residents, & Fellows (CIR) DO Day on the Hill (Both state and National) CORE Board OPTI Training Sites One of only 2-3 resident state osteopathic organizations in the country and the most active

Other Opportunities CIR Delegates Voting & Non-voting Representatives Ambassadors/Special Delegates Attend Meetings Heritage Center for Osteopathic Medical Education, Columbus, Ohio 8 Meetings per year half of them in person with the other half as a video conference Leadership conference for members Stay updated: Minutes Heritage Center for Osteopathic Medical Education at Doctors Hospital

  9. So............What can ORAC do for you? Support your interest in the osteopathic profession. Help increase the amount of GME positions in various specialties. Address concerns particular to your program. Provide uniform recommendations, if applicable, for all CORE hospitals and programs.

Accomplishments Revisedthe ORAC Constitution and Bylaws regarding meeting structure Created an award to recognize those who are leaders in the CORE Increased participation in ORAC CORE wide Improved electronic resource availability for all CORE hospitals Developed a CORE wide policy on how residents can address issues in their program Supported 3 CORE resident representatives at the AOA Convention’s Council of Interns and Residents (CIR) Continued the growth of our resident leaders by facilitating a “Leading from Within” leadership course Supported attendance at DO Day on the Hill Developed a strategic plan to ensure ORAC’s place in the future of Osteopathic GME

  12. 2010-2011 ORAC Goals Continue to promote ORAC and its mission Seek to meet the needs of all the residents in the CORE Streamline ORAC’s mission and strategically plan for the future Recruit future leaders in the CORE and ORAC Adopt the AOA President’s campaign/theme Continue to be a strong leader in the AOA CIR Improve resident research within the CORE, informing our constituents of the available resources Designate ORAC as the first place where resident/intern education decisions must pass Provide an opportunity for interns/residents to get involved in the profession at a local, state, and national level

  13. Summary ORAC is an organization dedicated to furthering the education of OGME programs in the CORE. ORACaddresses the issues and concerns of OGME trainees through several venues. ORACseeks and needs OGME trainee participation to further its goals.
