  5. The Holy Week

  6. Tuesday : the desolation of Jerusalem.

  7. Matthew 24 • Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down."

  8. Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives,

  9. the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?" (1)when will these things be? (the desolations of Jerusalem.) (2)And what will be the sign of Your coming, (3)and of the end of the age?"

  10. (1)when will these things be? (the desolations of Jerusalem.) 15 "Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened.

  11. (2)And what will be the sign of Your coming, • 29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

  12. (2)And what will be the sign of Your coming, • 32 "Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near--at the doors! 34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.

  13. Matthew1 The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham: 2 Abraham begot Isaac, Isaac begot Jacob,......... And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ. 17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations.

  14. (3)When will be of the end of the age?" • Jesus didn’t answer this question : • So that we will keep watching • And it is not part of His mission on earth. • Therefore Jesus’ answer was magnificent , and His advice was to watch , and He told us the following parables immediately after the question : • But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. 45 "Who then is a faithful and wise servant,

  15. Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. • "For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 15 And to one he gave five talents, ...... After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.

  16. Fulfilment of the prophecies

  17. 6th hourWhen Jesus was crucified, each a nail went through His body, same time went through St Mary’s heart !

  18. Tai ShoriFai etafTi epestoliAgios

  19. Tai Shori : This is the censer of pure gold bearing the aroma, in the hands of Aaron the priest, offering up incense on the altar. • Fai etaf : This is He who presented himself on the cross; an acceptable sacrifice for the salvation of our race. • Ti epestoli : But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. • Agios

  20. 11th hour nor shall you break one of its bones. Exodus 12:46

  21. Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with Him. 33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. John 19:32

  22. Why did Jesus die quickly on the cross?

  23. Jesus was already weak. • A strong person could stay alive on the cross for days. • How the person on the cross could breath?

  24. So Jesus – being so weak - was not able to breath and He suffocated . • But the other two thieves was still alive, so what did the soldiers did to let them die quickly?

  25. But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. !!! John 19:34

  26. "Truly this was the Son of God!"
