  2. FOOD AND DRINK • Bread was the most important food in the diet of ancient Egypt. Harvested grain was stored in huge granaries until needed. The Egyptians favourite drink was beer. It was very thick and had to be strainned before drinking.

  3. Bartering and buying • Egyptian traders did not use money to buy and sell goods. Instead they battered [exchanged goods] with other traders. Merchants visted the countries bordering the Mediterranean sea as well as those lands to the south. The Egyptians offered goods such as gold a kind of paper called papyruus and cattle

  4. The Egyptian hierachy 1 Pharaoh. 2 Preists. 3 Nobles. 4 Merchants. 5 Crafts people. 6 Farmers. 7 Laboures. 8 Slaves.

  5. Homes • Most Egyptian lived in huts made with dried mud bricks. • Most houses had three or four rooms. • Wealty Egyptians may have had as many as70 rooms in their house. • Small windows helped keep out the sun heat. • Weat mats helped cool the air inside the houses.

  6. War and enemies • Foot soilders carried metal swords and spears with shields made of wood or ox hair. Later soldiers were protected by body armour made from strips of leather.

  7. War and enemies • Specially trained soldiers fired arrows from their bows while riding in horse-drawn charriots. Each charriot had two soldiers an was pulled by a pair of horses.

  8. Crowns of Egypt • Asking of both upper and lower Egypt the pharaoh wore double crown made up of the white crown of upper Egypt and the red crown of lower Egypt

  9. Egyptian art • The Egyptians expressed their artistic genious in various ways,inculding beatiful paintings,sculpture and jewellery.Religion was at the core of their socity,so most of their art depicted gods,goddeses and pharaohs.Wall paintings were mainly found in tombs and temples.

  10. Getting around • The main method of transport in ancient Egypt was by boat along the river Nile. The Nile is the world’s longest river. It flows across the entire length of the desert lands of Egypt.

  11. A very messy job • Mummmies were made in Egypt for almost 4000 years.Mummies-makers experimented with different methods of prserving the dead , some of which worked better than others .The best mummies were made during the time of egyptian history called the New Kingdom between 3550and 3069 years ago.
