  5. GPS (Global Positing System) • Not just used for navigation • Used in many farming operations • Becoming the number 1 thing farmers want to know more about

  6. GPS and How it Works • Triangulation is used to get a precise location • Some GPS units will narrow it down to one inch Satellite

  7. GPS Cost/Payback • Is it worth it? • The formula: Payback (years) = Capital Cost/ Savings + Yield Improvements

  8. Soil Sampling This process allows farmers to find out the following: Soil Types Fertilizer Levels Fertilizer Build Ups Soil Composition

  9. Soil Maps • This is information farmers get from soil sampling • Each section is a different type of soil

  10. Combining GPS and Soil Results • Combining both of these farmers will make or gain money and improve yields

  11. Quick Savings • If a field only needs 1 ton of fertilizer an acre rather 2, you instantly cut cost in half, therefore saving you money.

  12. Conclusion • Using new advances will save farmers money if properly used and applied
