    6. Goal Large screen displays of relevant and recent information, images, animation and video Better to illustrate & explain complex concepts Stop, replay, zoom, slow-motion, etc. Link to related info. for deeper content mastery Increase meaningful and experiential learning Attain, stimulate, & maintain student interest Avoid unauthorized ‘surfing’ & security issues* Teach, re-teach, & review on-demand Keeping student focus on-task, learning, & away from techno-distractions, like surfing, emailing, hacking, or otherwise.Keeping student focus on-task, learning, & away from techno-distractions, like surfing, emailing, hacking, or otherwise.

    7. Importance Increase Time on task Avoid crowding around teacher monitor Maintain technology as catalyst not object in the science classroom Involve and accommodate multiple learning styles and intelligences Time spent instructing on topic, not on how to use equipment, getting students on same page, slower computers, etc.Time spent instructing on topic, not on how to use equipment, getting students on same page, slower computers, etc.

    8. Program Implementation Jane Westphal 4th year teacher of Earth and Space Science, Mathematics, and electives Install projector on cart in classroom for maximum flexibility Use across curriculum and Whole school functions (assemblies etc.) Introduce to & share with other teachers

Latest Earthquakes in the World - Past 7 days with time, date, magnitude, location, P&S wave arrival times and more. Webcams viewing all the Cascade range volcanoes and more with images, video, and data. NASA multimedia gallery including images, video, and interactive features. A little humor infused, musical, astronomical facts never hurt either! 10. Educator Evaluations http://www.avpartner.com/Tips_tricks/tips_classroom.htm “In a recent study, (by AVPartner.com) educators rated various benefits resulting from the use of classroom multimedia projectors. The result were as follows: - 98% of respondents said that projectors provided a significant improvement in student attention - 94% reported significant presentation quality - 94% reported easier editing of presentations - 94% reported a greater ease in presenting information - 90% reported a significant improvement of understanding information - 80% reported a significant improvement in retention of information - 74% reported a significant overall time savings - 62% reported a significant overall cost ”

    11. Project Evaluation Pre-unit assessment of student base knowledge Post-unit assessment Compare assessments with previous years Student survey Teacher survey Student survey: Attractiveness, attention getting/retaining, interesting, ease of understanding, overall satisfaction Teacher survey: Attention getting/retaining (of students), ease of use, overall satisfactionStudent survey: Attractiveness, attention getting/retaining, interesting, ease of understanding, overall satisfaction Teacher survey: Attention getting/retaining (of students), ease of use, overall satisfaction

    12. Success! After successful implementation and evaluation… Apply for a grant to supply projectors in all classrooms Research Smart Boards to be used with projectors to continue enhancing curriculum with technology

    13. Questions?

    14. 2007 UPDATE Successful Grant Proposal through the Marshall Community Foundation and the Vyda Mumby Grant Received Digital projector and implemented immediately onto cart for use in all classrooms Success initiated further purchase of additional projector.
