  1. Welcome, Students! Mrs. Mustain– 8th Grade RELA Pre-AP

  2. Welcome to RELA-Week at a Glance August 27-31, 2012

Break the Ice #1- Decorate a T-Shirt MONDAY: • Draw and color your name on a picture of a plain T-shirt on paper. • Decorate the T-Shirt any way you choose (appropriately). • Include info such as hobbies, favorite sports team, your family members, etc. • When finished, place your T-shirt on the wall!

  4. Timed Writing/Quick Write:“Dear Me,” TUESDAY: • Write a letter to yourself about what your expectations are for the new school year. • Include: • What you would like to learn this year, • Your likes/dislikes from last year, • What you are looking forward to the most. • Turn in your letters to Mrs. Mustain. • You will get them back at the end of the year!

  5. Break the Ice #3- Human Scavenger Hunt • Get a Human Scavenger sheet . • Now see if you can solve the clues by walking around the room and asking your peers questions from the list. You will have 2 minutes! • Object: try to match as many blanks as you can from your peers!

  6. AGENDA: AUGUST 27, 2012 I can… name 10 students in the classroom by the end of the period. • DO NOW: “Back to School” Video Stickies • Bubble Name POS • TMS Way-Hallway, Tardies, SLANT • EXIT TICKET: Debrief & Name 10 classmates • HW: get composition book- due Thurs.

AGENDA: AUGUST 28, 2012 I can… write a well-organized multi-paragraph paper in a given amount of time. • DO NOW: Note Card Comments- “Open Letter to Students Returning to School”; • turn in homework (name POS poster) • Timed Writing- “Dear Me,” • Name Frenzy- 10 seconds or less! • EXIT TICKET: Pennant • HW: get notebook- due Thurs.

AGENDA: AUGUST 29, 2012 I can… identify plot elements within a text • DO NOW: Story of My Life by Farah Amadi (and me)- author’s purpose • Cornell Notes & Plot Diagram “Three Little Pigs” (YouTube video) • TMS Way- Set up Interactive Student Notebook (ISN) • EXIT TICKET: Elbow Partner- what did you learn about plot today? • HW: get notebook- due Thurs.
