  2. Turning the Key Designed to inform the MHCC on current housing and community support needs for people living with mental health problems and/or mental illness in Canada.

Three years, budget of $300,000 Provincial/Territorial Reference Groups and the National Reference Network: + over 150 cross country leaders in the housing and mental health sectors, Knowledge Exchange will continue to engage Reference Groups Interviews - over 75 key stakeholders cross country Vetting – provincial/ territorial maps by + 200

What – the Document Main paper + 120 pages Appendices + 500 pages include: Webinar findings, Survey findings Literature Reviews Housing need within the Aboriginal population Detailed Provincial and Territorial Housing and Support Maps: existing housing and related supports, structural organization of housing and supports, key policy initiatives, promising practices, challenges and trends Site visits and Promising Practices

  5. Summary of Findings People can’t find homes People can’t afford the cost of housing People are living in dire conditions

Messages according to Vic • All Governments need to work together to provide affordable housing with supports • MHCC should work with governments and providers to provide 100,000 units of housing over the next 10 years • The participants of Chez Soi/At Home should be recipients of the first roll out of units

  10. 4) The MHCC and governments should work with in partnership with FNIM peoples to provide mental health services and appropriate, affordable housing • 5) MHCC should have a working group to look at social financing for affordable housing with supports
