  1. Overview Google Earth is a program that uses a combination of imagery software in order to provide a high resolution demographic of the Earth. Though resolutions vary depending on points of interest, most land is captured in a high resolution. Imagery from NASA’s DEM (Digital Elevation Model) helps to supplement the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) images and user submissions created by Sketchup, a 3D modeling program, help to build 3D images of many cities. This “Virtual Tour” of the world serves many functions and includes plenty of information on everything from movie theatres and museums to mountains and mausoleums. The software is available in three different licenses which include a free version, Google Earth Plus that costs $20 a year, and Google Earth Pro which runs a hefty $400 a year. The free version is, obviously, a lot less functional but still serves the purpose of basic imagery and mapping.
