Why erm

Why ERM?

  • Wide diversity in current approaches

    • Ranging from commercial products to Excel sheets

  • The current systems are not held in high esteem

  • Rights issues require skilled (sometimes senior) staff

  • Local cataloguing of electronic resources is inefficient

Benefits

Benefits

  • Savings in time and money, managing licensing agreements

  • Combination of ERM and licensing eases workflows

  • National ERM could facilitate new negotiating positions

    • Eg mediating access control centrally

  • Linking usage data (and benchmarking?) with ERM improves procurement decisions
