Accessibility Checking On 27-28 November 2009, Pung-Waan Resort collaborate with Disabled Peoples' International Asia-Pacific (DPI/AP) check the accessibility of the facility at Pung-Waan Resort Kanchanaburi. List of un accessible facility and 1. Un accessible facility in the room. front door, peephole, toilet, bed, balcony and furniture 2. Un accessible facility around the resort ramp with high slope, high reception counter, sidewalk around the resort, toilet around the resort, swimming pool, guide post, sign board,

  3. Un accessible facility in the room Entrance door open inside then entrance way’ s space be narrow and there is small step at entrance door. Handles are small, it’s un convenient to open and close the door. Door with high peephole.

Un accessible facility in the room - Toilet design does not design in universal design standard.- The limited of toilet space un convenient for wheelchair user.- Un convenient to access to flush toilet.- Clothsline is in high level.- Un setting the emergency call.- Un adjust the shower.- Un accessible faucet

  5. Un accessible facility in the room Cloths Rack Room’s Bed Room’s bed with wheeled, be dangerous when people with disability move from wheelchair to bed. Cloths rack has high level, people with disability cannot access to cloths rack. The installation of facility and furniture plan design are barrier and block wheel chair user to move around the room. Be dangerous, children can pass through and fell down. • Low step from room to balcony. • Did not put the contrast color at the mirror sliding door.

  6. Reception Un accessible facility around resort There is stair at the main reception, hard to check in at the main reception by ourselves. The check in counter has high level. Reception and check in counter at Chay Nam section is low level counter but without space for wheelchair get inside the counter

Un accessible facility around resort Ramp Chay Nam Reception’s toilet Ramp with high slope • Un accessible toilet • Narrow toilet. • liquid soap box set up higher. • There is low step level in front of the toilet. • Notice board should not placing block ramp. • There is a low step at the edge of ramp.

Un accessible facility around resort Ground flour at Chay Nam sction View Point • Gap between bars are more wider, children may pass through • Wooden floor be ruined sould fixed. • Should rather has more exit and entrance (remove fences). • Manhole cover in picture be dangerous for wheelchair children cane and high heel shoes because the a lot of gap between each bar

  12. Place to take a rest Pung Wann resort is a place that you can take your impress vocation there. Resorts’ room design, nature, panorama, service and Thai local foods that you can touch at Pung Wann . Resort Room and resort building design’s beside the River kwai, resort have a clean look. Ramp and transportation service.

  16. Summary and Comment • Resort construct and design for many years ago, resort’s room can improve and add more accessible facilities to the room. Re design the furniture plan. Start to improve the accessible room with 2 or 3 rooms first. • Resort’s can provide the mobility ramp that will be the solution in case of PWD stay and take a vocation at the resort when PWD check out mobility ramp can take away. • The atmosphere of resort suitable for relax and take a sigh seeing around so it be better if the side walk surface should have improve and provide some part of sidewalk to the wheelchair, bicycle way with the smooth surface and put more periodically view point. • Transportation be the one of accessibility priority that resort should consider. Accessible transportation transport customer from the resort’s room to resort dinning room. And transportation van with lift to serve PWD. • Resort’s executive boards have the strategy in term of improve the un accessibility facilities around the resort for People with disabilities and elder the goal is be the place for rest and activity for all. • Basic infrastructure of the resort is well for PWDs to take a vocation, there are some part that DPI/AP team and resort research together to improve.
