  4. Purpose of the meeting • Discuss the findings of the HMI monitoring visit from October 2012 • Summarise the action taken as a result of the report • Update parents on future plans following the report • Answer any general questions parents may have

  5. Background - Jan 2012 • Ofsted visit January 2012 • School placed in to notice to improve • Satisfactory in achievement, behaviour and safety and teaching • Notice to improve given for leadership and management

  6. Outcome of Ofsted report • Following the report • Intensive support programme provided by the Local Education Authority (LEA) • Consultant head was provided to give guidance • Links formed with an outstanding school • Increased training provided for staff

  7. Ofsted monitoring visit – Oct 2012 • HMI inspectorate monitoring visit October 2012 • Purpose to review the impact of intervention and progress since the Ofsted visit • Full Ofsted visit due again in 2013

  9. The School Action Plan • Presented at the last parent’s meeting • Reviewed at this meeting to highlight what has been achieved and what has not

School Action Plan • Achievement of pupils, particularly Maths at KS1 and higher attaining pupils is raised • Link to outstanding school to develop best practice • Maths audit action plan • Review maths marking policy, and monitor implementation • Read Write Inc training • Review able, gifted and talented policy, ensure appropriate pace/challenge is evident in teaching • Improve level of Governance

School Action Plan • Quality of Teaching is monitored and reviewed more rigorously in order to address inconsistencies and share best practice • Weekly year group planning together • Monitoring/evaluation schedules and reporting procedures in place to raise levels of teaching from satisfactory to good (70 % by July 2012, 80% by Christmas 2012) • Visit to/from leading KS1 Maths teachers • Support plans for improvement

  13. School Action Plan • Assessment data is consistently informing lesson planning and practice • Following half termly pupil progress meetings, medium term planning is amended • Monitoring and evaluating by Senior Leadership Team • Increase number of end of year Transition meetings

School Action Plan • Marking in Maths consistently guides pupils in learning • Clear guidelines on the use of marking in KS1, supporting and challenging pupils progress • Half termly book/work scrutiny and discussion with each child so they are clear about ‘next steps’ • Monitor and evaluation schedule in place

School Action Plan • Behaviour Management systems are monitored regularly and consistently applied • Log books are established in each classroom and for lunchtime for monitoring • Training on a consistent approach to recording/reporting concerns and behaviour expectations • Half termly evaluations to see whether patterns of incidents are evident, and action where required • Parental awareness of codes of behaviour • Develop the outside area with quiet space and resources

In summary • The pace of change has not been fast enough and many of the changes made are not embedded • Some positive progress has been made with regard to the school action plan • Headteacher resignation accepted • Mrs Crompton to be acting headteacher and Ms Waud to be acting assistant headteacher from half term
