Joint Patient’s Committee A political committee with an office • Promotes contact between patients, relatives and nursing staff • Works to ensure that patients receive the information required to protect their interests • Appoints assistants for patients under the Act on Compulsory Institutional Psychiatric care and the Forensic Psychiatry Act

Freedom to Choose and Rights Office An office connected to the Joint Patient’s Committee • Provides information to patients about care options within and outside the county • Informs patients about waiting times to different clinics and treatments and routines for obtaining care outside the county • Helps create clear and uniform information to the public about waiting times and options • Supplements information from health centres and clinics about waiting times and choices

Staff The staff includes approx. • 1 922 nurses • 1 492 assistant nurses, nursing auxiliaries, etc. • 736 doctors • 605 administrators • 630 paramedics • 474 medical secretaries • 391 catering and transport staff • 402 dental staff • 202 culture, education and recreation staff • 128 carers • 162 technicians The county council has approx. 6 357 employees (2011-12-31) (79 % women and 21 % men) The average age is 46. Average working hours is 93 %

  12. Mälarsjukhuset Hospital Eskilstuna Mälarsjukhuset Hospital is the largest hospital in Sörmland.   13. The memorial hospital of Kullberg in Katrineholm The hospital offers care and treatment within all commonly occurring illnesses. Activities are carried out 24-hours a day with a special focus on geriatric care,internal medicine, chronic illnesses and rehabilitation. Nyköping HospitalFounded in 1773 Nyköping Hospital carries out specialist care and medical service within the following areas: • Casualty, with emergency ward and short-term care • Surgery and intensive care • Paramedical, i.e. occupational therapy, counselling, physiotherapy and rehabilitation in the home • Radiology ……………………………………………………………………………. The hospital offers: • Proximity to good quality care and rehabilitation • Care focused on the patient • Close cooperation between patient and carer • Close cooperation between different carers and care levels

  15. Regional Hospital Karsudden(1) The regional hospital Karsudden is Sweden’s largest hospital for forensic psychiatric care. The hospital opened in 1964 and is the only government approved unit in Sörmland providing psychiatric care for people in custody and people sentenced to prison.

Regional Hospital Karsudden(2) Activities include: • 11 wards • 104 beds • 8 admission beds • 8 observation beds • occupational and social therapy • 291 staff The catchment area is primarily Sörmland County Council, Stockholm County Council and the Västra Götaland region. The hospital has well-established cooperation with Huddinge Hospital. Treatment is based on individual needs and requirements. An individual care plan is made for each patient.

  17. Dental care • The public dental care consists of 19 clinics and 3 specialist clinics • Around 80 private dentists • Dental care is free of charge for children 0-19 years

  20. Public Health The aim of public health measures in the long-term is to achieve good health and more equal health in Sörmland. In the short term, the aim is to increase knowledge of public health issues and to further develop collaboration and methods for achieving good health and more equal health in Sörmland.
