  2. What is base 10? • Base 10 numeration system groups numbers by 10’s. • Base 10 is used in classrooms to help students learn place value, addition, subtraction, decimal place, and many more other operations! • Has anyone seen a system other than base 10 used?

  4. 16 4 4 3 Positional Notation • We know this number is 27 by counting up the units but to write this in positional notation we record the number of flats, longs and units. • So how could we record this in positional notation?

  5. 16 4 4 3 The answer is….. • Well there is 1 flat, 2 longs and 3 units and we are using a base four system. • So we record 123 four
