Brasov Agency for Sustainable Development - ADDJB is an intercommunity association of almost all municipalities from Brasov county • It was established in 2006 in Brasov • Is the key partner for the local public administrations on issues of sustainable development • ADDJB supports the development of rural and urban areas, building and promoting a sustainable future for our county

  3. Brasov County (I) Brasov is situated in the central part of the country, being considered one of the most important towns in Romania. Located at 160 km from Bucharest, Romania's capital, Brasov is surrounded by the Carpathians, being in the middle of the country at the crossroads of the Eastern Carpathians and the Southern Carpathians. Stretching over a surface of 5,363 sq km Brasov County comprises Barsa depression and Fagaras land and in the North-Northeast Persani Mountains and the depression neighbored by Olt river and Tarnave (Hirtibaciului Plateau).

  4. Brasov County (II) • The total population of Brasov County amounts 598.208 inhabitants. Brasov County has 10 towns – therein 4 are municipal towns - and 48 communes including 149 villages. • The mountain area of Brasov County is 40% from the total territorial surface.

Brasov County (III) • Brasov has a temperate-continental climate with cold and relatively wet weather in the mountains. • The average temperature is 7.6 degrees C and the annual average humidity in the air is 75%. The highest temperature in summer is 35.0 degrees C and the lowest in winter is -30 degree C. • Vegetation of the Brasov County is characterized by a well expressed ranging per altitude, but with obvious local contrasts related to the zone peculiarities. • The level of the leaf-bearing woods is the best represented.

OUR STRATEGY • Fostering the socio-economic development of Brasov County • Protecting, promoting and developing the historic, archeological and cultural heritage • Initiatives for protecting and enhancing the natural environment • Promotion and development of tourism in the county • Institutional capacity building for the local public administrations in the county • Development, monitoring and assessment of strategies for the sustainable development of Brasov County and its communities

OUR ACTIVITIES • General access to information regarding funding opportunities for local development projects • Counseling for the Local Public Administrations in developing applications for grants • Analysis of local and county strategies, public consultation and prioritization of measures for their achieving • Support for local initiatives of sustainable development • Support for public-private partnership • Strengthening the county’s image

Projects we have successfully implemented so far • The Development Strategy of Brasov County – horizons 2013-2020-2030, co–financed by ESF • Rupea-Cohalm: Romanian cultural identity, financed by Romanian Cultural Institute • Qualification and re-qualification of the employees of the woodworking industry, co–financed by ESF • Setting up the Bison Valley Reserve • Quality services for local public authorities, co–financed by ESF

  9. Promotional events (local traditions: dance, music, traditions and specific gastronomy) • Local traditions from Brasov • Christmas traditions in Brasov county • Romanians’ days in Nürnberg, Germany • Models of community growth in New Member States, Study case Brasov
