  2. What’s going on? • Changes needed in LC/NACO Authority File for RDA • 2 (later 3) phases • Each record only issued once (…) • Definitions adjusted as time passed • Documentation: http://files.library.northwestern.edu/public/pccahitg

  3. Phase 1 • Identify records that cannot be used under RDA • Only records that do not also require some change during phase 2 • Changes made ~August 2012 • ~400,000 records changed

  4. Phase 1.5 • Deal with the RDA 7XX fields • Changes made January, 2013 • Most RDA 7XX fields removed • Many became 4XX • Not yet removed if record requires a change during phase 2 • ~15,000 records changed

  5. Phase 2 • Change texts of fields • Re-code changed AACR2 records as RDA • ~400,000 records to be changed • Expected to begin March 4 • 30,000 records per day • Sequential order per LC's copy of the file

  6. Phase 2: examples of changes • Spell out Dept. • Manipulate dates in X00 $d • Spell out or remove O.T. and N.T. • Koran becomes Qur'an • $t Selections becomes $t Works. $k Selections
