CREDP in a nutshell • CREDP: TA - Programme Germany-CARICOM for the promotion of sustainable energy (RE/EE) in 14 MS and the Dominican Republic. • Counterpart: Energy Unit of the CARICOM Secretariat/Guyana • Other implementing partners: - OECS Secretariat, St. Lucia- CARILEC, St. Lucia- CEIS, Jamaica. • CREDP/UNDP (2004 – 2009) was financed by GEF and implemented by UNDP/CARICOM. PMU based at CARICOM, Guyana. • CREDP/GIZ (02/2003 – 03/2014) HQ at CARPHA, St. Lucia, financed by BMZ with co-financing from Austria (ADA) and EU Energy Facility- volume (Feb. 2014): 7.5 + 0.7 + 1.5 Mio EUR = 9.7 Mio EUR. • Planned CREDP extension Phase 2: 04/ - 12/2015 (add. 1.5 Mio EUR)

What kind of TA does CREDP offer? • Institutional strengthening: - Energy Unit of the CARICOM Secretariat (seconded Regional Energy Policy Advisor)- Energy units/ energy desks at CARICOM energy ministries- Concept of an Caribbean Energy Agency as regional energy implementing entity to release and empower Energy Unit of CCS • Policy Advice of Governments:- Regional Energy Policy,- National Energy Policies, - National Energy Action Plans, - Amendment of energy legislation / regulation, sector reforms. • Technical Assistance (TA) for public and private investors:- RE and EE projects including engineering and final design, - Tender-ready documents, - Assistance in negotiations of PPAs, - Matchmaking between developers and financing institutions,- Cooperation with OECS- Bureaus of Standards (ECELP)

  5. What kind of TA does CREDP offer? (cont.) • Public Awareness and Capacity building of key players: • All aspects of RE and EE development, • Study tours, filed trips, • Tailor made workshops and seminars, • Cooperation with Universities • Cooperation with Technical Community Colleges • Networking, donor cooperation, international best practise:- Information exchange, - Energy Awareness Weeks,- Caribbean Sustainable Energy Forum (CSEF 1 to 3),- PR/awareness campaigns in all aspects of sustainable energy development, - TV and radio PR campaign in OECS (2013/2014)

(cont.) • CREDP - Outlook 2014/2015: - Consolidation/ completion of initiated RE and EE projects, - Documentation of outcomes, impacts and lessons learned, - TA to Caribbean Banking Sector (Development Banks, Commercial Banks, Credit Unions) empowering their energy in-house-capacities, - Continuation of cooperation with Energy Unit of CCS and REETA
