  17. Planimals How are the structures that have similar functions alike and different among plants and animals? Objectives: Compare and contrast the functions of organs and structures of plants and animals. Illustrate and name a “planimal” with a set of randomly selected attributes.

  18. Planimal Procedures Take turns within your group spinning each one of the spinners. Record the result of each spin on your group chart. After you finish, you will work as a group to draw a picture of their planimal that incorporates all of the characteristics that were spun. You can add other features, like noses, eyes, ears, as long as they are not related to any of functions on the spinners. Name your group’s planimal and answer the questions on the bottom of planimals record sheet.

  19. PlanimalsConnected Learning What are some ways that plants and animals are alike?... Different? Are there any physical structures that are common to both plants and animals? In what ways is your planimal like a plant?... Animal? You? Overall, do you think your planimal is most like a plant or most like an animal? Why?

  26. Extend Enrichment Five E’s Overview

  27. Five ’s Instructional Strategy The FiveE Model is one way to prioritize student involvement in their own learning (both in terms of physical activity and active construction of understandings) This model is a version of a “learning cycle” This Five E’s learning cycle suggests the design and implementation of lessons to activate prior knowledge, shape the formation of new knowledge, and provide opportunities to use the new knowledge.
