  2. History • Austria has competed in every Winter Olympic games and has hosted them in 1964 and 1976. • Austria is 4th all-time with 185 metals – 51 gold, 64 silver and 70 bronze. Medals from Torino

  3. History Cont. • Austria won 17 medals in Nagano but only three of them were gold. Also, 11 of the medals came from the Alpine skiing. Hermann Maier won two of the three gold medals. • Austria also won 17 medals in Salt Lake, including nine in Alpine Skiing. Austrians won at least one medal in every men’s Alpine event.

History Cont. • In the 2006 Torino games, the Austrians saw 14 Alpine medals, two double gold medal winners, Michaela Dorfmeister and Benjamin Raich. • Toni Sailermight be the greatest hero in Austrian History because he became the first skier to pull off the Alpine Triple. He swept the Downhill, slalom and giant slalom.
