  1. A look at the Biblical Keys to a healthy family. This week: • Family Roles—The Part We Play In The Family That Makes It All Work Right.

  2. Husband/Father • Leader & Blesser • Joshua 24:14-15 14 “Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Husband/Father • Leader & Blesser • Genesis 18:17-19 17 Then the Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do? 18 Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him. 19 For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just, so that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.”

  4. Husband/Father • Leader & Blesser • Gen 48:8-9 8 When Israel saw the sons of Joseph, he asked, “Who are these?” 9 “They are the sons God has given me here,” Joseph said to his father. Then Israel said, “Bring them to me so I may bless them.”

  5. Wife/Mother • Helper & Teacher • Genesis 2:18 18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

  6. Wife/Mother • Helper & Teacher • Proverbs 1:8 8 Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.  

  7. Child • Learner & Obeyer • Ephesians 6:1-3 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

  8. Child • Learner & Obeyer • Deuteronomy 6:6-9 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
