  1. Section 1 Preparing for Battle Part 2Know Your Foe

  2. “…while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18

  3. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8

  4. Weaknesses of the Devil 3 Weaknesses

  5. 1. Satan is limited by time.

  6. Matthew 8:28-29 • When He had come to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two demon-possessed men, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass that way. 29 And suddenly they cried out, saying, "What have we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?"

  7. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:7

  8. 2. Satan is limited in power.

  9. Revelation 20:1-2 • Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.

  10. Psalm 91:11-12 • For he orders his angels to protect you wherever you go. 12 They will hold you with their hands to keep you from striking your foot on a stone.

  11. 3. Satan has boundaries.

  12. Ephesians 6:11-12 • Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

  13. Wiles is defined as cunning arts, trickery, and deceit.

  14. Mind Games Satan is the master of the mind game.

  15. “…so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are very familiar with his evil schemes.” 2 Corinthians 2:11 schemesmean “mental perceptions and thoughts.”

  16. Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Ephesians 6:10 Finally is the Greek word loipon. It means “from this point on.”

  17. Playtime is Over! Satan loves to play mind games, but there is far too much at stake for us to be playing games with the enemy.

  18. Job and Judas Two amazing examples of men the enemy came against in a great way.

  19. My Fiercest Foe If you believe your fiercest foe is the devil you would be wrong.

  20. Three steps to overcoming the devil 1. Know what is right.

  21. There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. Proverbs 16:25

  22. Three steps to overcoming the devil 2. Desire what is right.

  23. Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 "Delight" is the Hebrew word anag. It means “to be happy about” and “to take exquisite delight in.”

  24. Three steps to overcoming the devil 3. Do what is right.

  25. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8

  26. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:22 doer means “a producer or performer.”

  27. "Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done." Luke 22:42 Gethsemane means “the place of the oil press.”

  28. The English word translated "will" is the Greek word thelo. It means to have in mind, to wish for, to desire.

  29. Hebrews 12:2 • We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish. He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy he knew would be his afterward. Now he is seated in the place of highest honor beside God's throne in heaven.
