  2. Facts About Williams Life • Born Paul Revere Williams • Born on Feb.18, 1894 in Los Angeles • Certified as an architect in 1915 • In 1921 he received his architect’s license • In late 1922 he set up his own firm: Paul R. Williams and Associates.

  3. Designed over 2,000 homes in Southern California • Designed more than 300 Beverly Hills homes. • Head chief on the Pueblo del Rico Public Housing Project in Vernon • Hacienda Village at 103rd Street and Compton Boulevard

  4. Not all of Williams work is still around • With around 3,000 homes to his credit. • His $400,000, sixteen-bedroom Beverly Hills home for auto manufacturer E.L. Cord, Cordhaven, was torn down in 1963. • The 1934’s Sunset Plaza Apartments bit the dust in 1987.

  5. Williams made his name designing period revival homes, but this one is International Modern. • Paul R. Williams retired in 1973, then died seven years later on Jan.23,1980.

Career • Williams designed more than 2,000 private homes, most of which were in the Hollywood Hills. • Williams Designed more than 3,000 commercial buildings, government offices, and private residences, including Saks Fifth Avenue store and Musical Corporation of America building, Beverly Hills, CA, Los Angeles County Courthouse, Los Angeles, CA, Grave of the Unknown Sailor, Pearl Harbor, HA, and U.S. Naval Station, Long Beach, CA. Appointed to Federal Housing Advisory Commission, 1953; elected Fellow of American Institute of Architects, 1957; president, Los Angeles Art Commission.
