  4. Childhood • Michael Jackson was born on August 29, 1958 in Gary, Indiana. • He is the seventh child out of nine- Rebbie, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, La Toya, Marlon, Michael, Randy, and Janet.

  5. Childhood • Michael did not have much of a childhood because he grew up into a boy band with his brothers. • The band was the Jackson 5. • Michael, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon

  6. Solo Career • The Jackson 5 split and Michael took off on a solo career. • He started off big because of the band that he was in as a child. • He became huge for his dance moves, the Moon Walk being his most famous.

  7. Disaster • While filming a commercial for Pepsi, his hair caught on fire from a fire work that went off too early. • He was rushed to the hospital and treated for third degree burns on his head.

  8. Musical Career • Michaels career started with major hits that top the charts and stayed on the top of the lists for weeks. • These songs are Billie Jean, Beat it, Smooth Criminal, and of course Thriller.

  10. Charity Work • Jackson holds the World Record for the Most Charities Supported by a single person. • His family today is taking over some of the charities that he supported.

  11. Death • He went into cardiac arrest at his home and was worked on for some time but were not able to get a pulse back. • There is a lot of controversy surrounding Michael’s death but nothing is known.

  12. Accomplishments • Won 13 Grammy Awards and has 13 Number 1 Singles • 40 Billboard Awards • World’s Best Selling Male Solo Pop Artist • Inductee of Songwriters Hall of Fame • Inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

  15. Childhood • Elvis Presley was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. • He was an only child and was very close to his mother because his father was not around much. • They moved to Memphis when Elvis was very young.

  16. Childhood • When Elvis was younger he did not have many friends. • At school he was bullied by his peers. His relationship with is mother became very special to him because of this.

  17. Work • As a teenager, Elvis was working a full time job to keep his family above water and save their house. • He worked in jobs such as ushering a theatre, and driving a truck for an electric company.

  18. Beginning of Career • His singing began when he was at church singing in the choir. • He decided for a Christmas present he would record a song for his mother. While he was there, the record company signed him and began their record deal.

  19. Acting Career • He started acting before he went to war, but continued it when he returned. • He started with small roles coming in being a supporting actor in a scene or two, all the way to being the main star of a movie.

  20. Military • Elvis was drafted into the Army in 1957, but was in the middle of shooting a movie so he was given a deferment to finish the movie • He was drafted March 24, 1958 and finish his training in Texas before being moved to Germany. • He was introduced to meth while he was there.

Marriage • Elvis met Priscilla in 1959 in Germany when she was 14 and he was 24. • She finally convinced her parents to let her live in America and when she did it was not long till her and Elvis got married on May 1, 1967. • They had one child named Lisa Marie who was born on February 24, 1968

  22. Death • He was found dead on his suite floor on August 16, 1977. • There is a lot of controversy on how he died. It is known that he had many chronic illnesses but also that he was taking a lot of prescribed pills that doctors had given him. • It was convinced that his addiction came from the war where he used meth.

  23. Accomplishments • He influenced the music we listen to know. • He is the idol for many singers that sing to us like Michael Jackson who has shaped pop. • Received the Album of the Year in Country Music. • Nominated for 5 Grammys and won 3

  24. Accomplishments • Won the Best Musical Performance at Laurel Awards • Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame • Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame • Known as The King of Rock and Roll

  26. Similarities • They both were believers that when they were preforming, the crowd was the most important thing. • Very charitable and courtious • Became known as the Kings of their Genres • Were great fathers • Had Friends that were not their for their best Interest

  27. Differences • Michael grew up in a huge family while Elvis was an only child. • Elvis went to the Military and became an actor while Michael was strictly doing things with his music. • Michael’s works was more of a pop genre while Elvis was more Rock and Roll and Country.

  28. Differences • Michael always had a changing appearance as he grew up while Elvis looked the same and stayed with the same style. • Elvis was more about the hip shaking while Michael worked on his feet movement. • Elvis had one child • Michael had three

  29. Greater Impact • Michael Jackson had the greater impact. • He was known during a period where the publicity was bigger so the World knew more. • He gave more than Elvis and was also bigger in the music industry than him.
