  1. Seasoning of Herbs and Spices For Scrumptious Pasta Pasta is a versatile dish because of profusion assortment in which it comes. Not only that pasta comes in many different shapes made from diverse ingredients, but it can also be made to different dishes just with a change of an ingredient. The different combinations of pasta and herbs and spices, make a pasta dish completely new each time you prepare. Pasta is usually bland with hints of flavour. When making a pasta dish, you need to spice it up with flavours to leave you salivating. Adding herb or spice to your pasta gives it a new flavour every time you experiment a bit. If you want to be pro in making pasta, you need to know the herbs and spices to make the dish differently flavoured each time you cook.

Spices are roots, leaves, seeds, fruits, and barks of plants used in dried form. They are aromatics too and usually add heat to a dish. Let us take a look at different herbs and spices that will make your pasta dish delectable: Basil– Basil is a herb that is usually used in fresh form and has a sharp flavour with a hint of a sweet smell. Add beautiful flavour to your marinara sauce and cream sauce with rosemary. Thyme– Thyme has an earthy and warm flavour. It is a mild flavoured herb with hints of lemon and mint. Thyme enhances the taste of pasta when combined with mushroom, kosher salt, and pepper flakes. Sage– Sage reminds of Mediterranean and has a bitter-sweet flavour with a hint of citrus tang. It tastes well with fettuccini, butter, broccoli, tomato, and pesto. It combines excellently with other herbs and acidic flavours.

They are often used in dried form and have a strong aroma over flavour. Bay leaves are usually added to spaghetti sauce and blend brilliantly with savoury flavours. Oregano– Oregano belongs to the mint family and its leaves are used for cooking mostly in dried form. It has a strong and peppery flavour that adds heat to a dish. It is an all-time favourite spice but should be used in the right quantity as it can overpower other flavours. Parsley– Parsley is a delicate flavour herb used in fresh form. Pesto and Alio e Olio are the most loved parsley pasta dish. Parsley enhances the taste of pasta when combined with cloves, garlic, butter, olive oil, and red paprika. Marjoram – It is a citrus flavoured herb with bitter, pine-like, and spicy punch. It has a sweet and delicate aroma like that of basil and thyme. It is a versatile spice but tastes best when added to tomato sauces and balsamic flavour pasta. Pepper – It is an essential ingredient for pasta as it adds heat to the dish. Black pepper, peppercorns, chipotle pepper, paprika, habaneros, and chilli flakes are different types of hot spices used in pasta. Pepper is used in seed, fruit, powdered, and flaked forms. Different peppers have different heat levels and must be used accordingly. These are some common Italian herbs and spices that are used in pasta. Don't restrict your flavours to these only and use Indian spices to add a new taste to the pasta. Many international chefs use turmeric, cumin, nutmeg, and fennel to add new seasoning to pasta and make the dish more vibrant and flavoursome.
