  4. Introduction • The next few weeks, you and a team mate will RESEARCH kite history, find kite PLANS, USE PAINT to construct a scale drawing, DECORATE your kite, BUILD a kite, and of course TEST your kite outside!  A CLASSPRESENTATION is also involved in this project. Don't forget your geometry and “Going Green” skills while building your kite.

  5. Task • You will find and research a particular kite plan and then construct that kite following your plan.  You will be expected to present to the class and 3 staff members/parents. Creative Presentation. • A scale drawing must be turned in. Drawings will be completed on graph paper or the paint program (go to start and search paint).

  6. Process Your kite must have geometry ideas involved. • At least two sets of congruent figures. • At least two sets of similar figures. • At least two types of angles used in your kite. • Your kite should have lines that you can explain i.e. parallel lines, perpendicular lines, or skew lines.  You should be able to calculate the surface area of your kite.  The kite must be produced entirely with reusable/recyclable materials. Keep budget to a minimum.

  7. All about Kites Go and Fly a Kite! How to Fly Your Kite Search on your own,  Google or  Yahoo! To learn about kites and their physical properties search the following links:

  8. Prototype Use a small plastic garbage bag to construct a small prototype of your kite prior to making the real thing. This must be approved by me before you start the real construction.
